Have you seen Elon Musk’s long-lost twin lighting up TikTok? Or is it all just a mind-bending AI prank?
Meet Yilong Ma, the self-made “Chinese Elon Musk,” who has captured imaginations and millions of followers, with his uncanny resemblance to the Tesla and SpaceX mogul.

Yilong burst onto the scene in late 2020, amassing a whopping one million TikTok followers and over 33 million likes.
In my opinion, his videos are Pure chaotic genius. Think Elon inspired dances, shoutouts to X (formerly Twitter), and public hype for Dogecoin and Tesla. Even the real Elon Musk couldn’t resist weighing in.
Musk himself has mused about Yilong’s authenticity more than once.
“Still don’t know if real or AI-generated,” he posted on X in August 2023.
This isn’t the first time Musk has joked about his ‘doppelgänger.’ Back in 2021, he quipped that he could be “partly Chinese” after another viral Yilong moment.
By 2022, Musk even expressed interest in meeting Yilong—if, of course, he’s real.

But here’s the twist, a lot of people aren’t convinced Yilong isn’t a super convincing AI deepfake. YouTuber Xiaoma tried to solve the mystery earlier this year with a virtual interview.
During their chat, Yilong professed his admiration for Musk, his belief in AI’s potential, and his dreams of meeting his entrepreneurial idol.
Xiaoma, however, couldn’t make up his mind about whether Yilong was real or a brilliantly crafted digital illusion.
After hours of watching Yilong’s TikToks, I have to admit— I believe it, and he is adorable.
