The Japanese researchers have pinpointed a protein named HKDC1 that assumes a vital role in the cleansing of damaged mitochondria (the cellular powerhouses) and the restoration of lysosomes (the cell’s waste disposal system).
This protein collaborates with other proteins known as VDACs to facilitate this intricate process.
By increasing the levels of HKDC1, we may enhance cellular well-being, stave off the effects of aging, and potentially pave the way for new treatments that have the potential to slow down aging therefore ward off age-related conditions.
