Ballarat’s first marathon will headline a new road running festival in the city, set to launch early next year.
Ballarat Marathon will be held on the weekend of April 27 and 28, with runners starting and finishing at the Ballarat Town Hall and travelling around Victoria Park, Sturt Street and Lake Wendouree.
Supported by the City of Ballarat and Federation University, the festival will reportedly have a late Saturday afternoon fixture with a mile and five kilometre events, with a 10 kilometre, marathon and half-marathon events on Sunday morning.
The courses have been co-designed by marathon race director, Steve Moneghetti, and long-time road running course designer, Dave Cundy.
Online registrations for the Ballarat Marathon festival open on August 27.
