Thousands of runners have taken part in the first ever Ballarat Marathon on the weekend.
Kicking off with the five kilometre run on Saturday afternoon, a staggering 4,700 people took part in events over the two days.
The event was capped off with the 10 kilometre race and 42.2 kilometre marathon on Sunday morning.
Sydney’s Tom Do Canto won the men’s marathon with a time of 2 hours and 17 minutes, with Warrnambool-born Ella McCartney taking out the women’s marathon in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
In the half marathon, Melbourne’s Reece Edwards was the first to cross the finish line, with a time of 1 hour and 5 minutes, with Adelaide’s Tara Palm the first woman to complete the event with a time of 1 hour and 12 minutes.
The 10 kilometre event was won by Adelaide’s Jacob Cocks with a time of 29 minutes and 52 seconds, with Melissa Duncan the fastest female with a time of 34 minutes and 16 seconds.
Ballarat local Samuel Rizzo taking out the 10 kilometre wheelchair event in 23 minutes and 18 seconds.
Dale Caroll won the 5 kilometre in 14 minutes and 36 seconds, with two-time Olympian Zoe Buckman taking out the women’s 5 kilometre and mile events with times of 16 minutes and 21 seconds and 4 minutes and 49 seconds respectively.
Paul Robinson from Ireland taking out the mile category for the men in 4 minutes and 12 seconds.
The event raised over $110,000 for 201 charities, beating the marathons revised fundraising goal of $90,000.
