The Royal South Street Eisteddfod has launched an ambitious plan to bring one of the country’s best grand pianos to Ballarat.

The ‘Key to Music’ campaign will see 88 keys of the piano sold to donors to help fund the purchase, each key representing a lasting contribution to the city’s vibrant arts community.

The society’s Executive Officer, Judy-Ann Quilliam says the Schimmel is a special instrument that will add to the appeal of the Eisteddfod.

“Not everyone wants to perform on the stage at Her Majesty’s with that large theatre.”

“We do need a smaller venue with a beautiful premium quality piano, and that’s what we’re bringing to Ballarat.”

“It’s a Schimmel Konzert Grand K195 piano and it will sit beautifully at the Ballarat Mechanics Institute,” Ms. Quilliam said.

You can support the Key to Music initiative by buying a key via www.royalsouthstreet.com.au or calling 5332 1054.
