Ballarat police say the spike in anti-social behaviour at the Little Bridge Street bus stop might be seasonal with the days now longer and warmer.
It comes as CDC bus drivers refuse to stop there after 4pm because of fears for their safety.
Inspector Jason Templar says he’d like to see the bus exchange gone.
“I’ve made no secret of this; I don’t believe a bus exchange in Little Bridge Street is necessary or does anything in assisting police in reducing anti-social behaviour.”
“In fact, I think it is one of the lead contributors to us having these types of issues in this place,” Inspector Templar said.
Meantime, a CDC bus driver says the decision to cease stopping busses after 4pm is working.
The driver, who wished to remain anonymous, said the youths appear to not be hanging around and Bridge Street is no longer littered with rubbish.
The drivers made the decision to not stop last week due to the anti-social behaviour in the area, it’s unclear when or if they’ll recommence stopping there.
