The TAC has partnered with the Victorian Tourism Industry Council in a bid to tackle fatigue-based road trauma.
Fatigue is a major factor in the state’s fatal rural crashes, where people are travelling long distances and at high speeds.
With the program launched in Ballarat yesterday, ‘Pause Stop’ locations will be set up within Visitor Information Centres state-wide, providing travelers with information on how to avoid drowsy driving and help plan a safe journey.
Acting Chief Executive of the Victorian Tourism Industry Council, Chris Porter, said 15 premium sites will be rolled out across the state.
“These sites have been selected based on their propensity for road trauma in their areas, but also [for] visitors as they are actually travelling into those destinations,” he said.
