Planning to make a notorious intersection in Ballarat’s west safer continues behind the scenes.
Earlier this year, a six-year-old was killed in an accident at the intersection of Ballarat-Carngham Road and Finchs Road.
Nearby residents have since called for a reduction in speed and traffic lights at the intersection.
The Department of Transport & Planning’s Michael Bailey says they’ve received the interim police report, which gives them the causational factors of the accident.
“What we do now is overlay the [police report] with the technical response [which are] engineering responses to what we need to do from a design perspective and what the engineering standards say,” he said.
