A donation to support cancer research has led to the creation of a new fellowship at the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
Mildura resident Irene Tellefson received treatment for her cancer in Ballarat and became aware of the institutes work.
Before she passed away in 2022, she wished to support research to improve outcomes for cancer patients.

In her memory, the institute has today established the Irene Tellefson Cancer Research Fellowship, supporting research into utilizing and harvesting the power of nanoparticle delivery systems in breast cancer treatment.
The inaugural recipient of the fellowship is Dr. Arpita Poddar.
