MP calls out City of Ballarat for alleged meeting ‘censorship’

A Western Victorian MP has called out the City of Ballarat for what he calls censorship.

Joe McCracken says segments of last week’s ordinary meeting online recording have been censored by council officers, without councillors giving prior consent or knowing the recording would be altered.

Mr. McCracken says he raised the matter in parliament this week and is now calling on the Minister for Local Government to investigate.

He says the community deserve to have council records that are true, fair and accurate.

The City of Ballarat have been contacted for comment.
