$3.3 million will go towards new facilities at St. Augustine’s Primary School in Creswick.
Through the Federal Government’s Capital Grants Program, the funding will go towards construction of a new general learning area, for subjects including science, art and the school’s Japanese language program.
New administration and staff facilities are also planned at the site.
It’s the first major works undertaken at the school since 2009.
Speaking at the school yesterday, Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, says improvements to school assets do influence students learning.
“Of course, we know having high quality teachers, which we have here at St. Augustine’s, is really important, but also investing in capital does also mean you get great learning outcomes as well,” she said.
In a statement, St. Augustine’s Principal, Michael Heenan, says the upgrades will benefit their 130 current students and the coming generations of students and their families.
