Former Greater Western Victoria Rebel Kai Lohmann has signed a two-year contract extension with the Brisbane Lions.

The small forward, who kicked four goals in last year’s AFL grand final, was already signed on for this year.

It’s the second time since being drafted in 2021 that the former Maryborough and Ballarat local resisted the urge to return home to Victoria by re-committing to the Lions.

“It was a pretty easy decision.”

“You come in everyday and have fun, everybody wants to get better and there’s a lot of great things to look forward to in the future.”

“I’m very excited and hopefully I can contribute a lot to that as well,” Lohmann said.

Brisbane Lions General Manager Football, Danny Daly said the Club was thrilled to have Lohmann extend his contract.

“Kai has shown plenty of promise in his first three seasons with us and his finals campaign last year was very exciting to watch,” Daly said.

“There’s no questioning his natural talent and flare.”

“The challenge for Kai now is to keep working hard and keep building on last year and we are confident he will do so,” he said.
