City leaders are hailing the financial boost provided by this year’s Ballarat Heritage Festival.

The event wrapped up on Sunday, with an estimated 25,000 people attending events across the city over the 10 days.

130 events were held during the festival, including the Monuments light projections in Sturt Street, the Ballarat Antique Fair, the Vintage Car Show and the Ballarat Old Gaol Tours.

Chief Executive at the City of Ballarat, Evan King, says it came at the right time.

“[The event] generated about $2 million worth of investment into our economy, which is much needed at the moment,” he said.

In a statement, Mayor Des Hudson said the council could not be happier with how the event unfolded and the early feedback they’ve heard has been glowing.
