Big W’s Giving Tree is supporting local families in need for Christmas.
Gifts placed under trees in local stores will be donated to the volunteer run Soul+Food in Wendouree, which supports close to 100 families in need per week in Ballarat by giving food and other items.
A number the Soul+Food program’s Chaplain Veronica Turchitt says has nearly from a few months ago.
“When I started with the program seven months ago we were seeing 45 to 50 (families), the last three weeks we’re seeing close to 100 a week. I’m doing 13 to 15 new registrations every week.”
Turchitt says she is grateful for Big W’s support and wants to pay the generosity forward.
“I’d love to partner. If any other local businesses in Ballarat would like to partner with us in helping to support families that are disadvantaged or struggling, or just not in a good place, we’d love to hear from them. It’s all about working collaboratively and I’m really strong about that.”
