Former John Valves site may soon be transformed after a decade

After more than a decade of sitting vacant, the old John Valves site on Creswick Road looks set to be transformed.

The City of Ballarat says a current planning permit exists for a staged subdivision and they’re now considering an extension of time application.

Mayor of the City of Ballarat, Des Hudson, says the site was offered to council when the Commonwealth Games were a happening thing, but owners of the land wanted too much for it.

“It would’ve been an ideal site for some of the parking, given it’s a sports precinct and a sports hub,” he said.

“But if the price being asked is just too exorbitant, you’ve got to walk away from the table.”
