Ballarat not-for-profit Food Is Free Inc has turned ten years old today.
It was founded by Lou Ridsdale in October 2014 with the birth of the Food Is Free Laneway which later morphed into the Food is Free Greenspace.
Up next is a plan for an urban food farm worth more than $2m.
Ms. Ridsdale says she’s proud of what she and her volunteers have achieved over the last decade.
“I read about it, loved it and thought let’s just give this a go, it’s a bit cheeky, it’s a bit me.”
“The neighbourhood really got behind it,” Ms. Ridsdale said.
Celebrations to mark the occasion will take place from 10am this Sunday at Barkly Square with special guest Costa from ABC TVs Gardening Australia.
