Education can help lower road toll, says road safety campaigner

A Ballarat-based road safety campaigner says reducing the road toll can be done, but it starts with educating our young people.

John Maher says government figures show each death on our road’s costs taxpayers $3.2 million, whereas investing just over $500,000 could go to educating 20,000 students across 10 weeks.

Mr. Maher says it’s a no brainer.

“Our government needs to do so much more,” he said.

“The Year 10 and 11 students coming through the education system, teach them road safety as a subject.”
