Ballarat police are calling for locals to be vigilant while driving, following two fatal crashes in the last week.
On Friday morning, a motorcyclist died in a crash at Mannibadar, then on Saturday night a 6-year-old was killed in a two-car crash at Lucas.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the two fatal crashes are continuing.
Acting Superintendent Jason Templar says just a moment of inattention can have significant results.
“It doesn’t matter how short a distance you’re travelling or whether you’ve travelled that road a thousand times, you need to be vigilant because things can change very quickly,” he said.
“Whether that’s wildlife jumping out onto the road or a change in traffic conditions that you may not be used to, you need to be really careful every time you step behind the wheel.”
