Car chase shuts down Phoenix College, students and staff said to be safe and well

Phoenix College in Sebastopol was put into lock down earlier today due to an alleged stolen car being driven erratically nearby.

Officers first spotted the vehicle on Sturt Street at about 10am before it made its way to Sebastopol and crashed into a carport, gate and back fence at a properly along Powers Court.

No one was injured.

The driver dumped the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, he is yet to be located.

His passenger, a 20-year-old woman also allegedly fled and was arrested a short time later on Beverin Street.

The 20-year-old Smythesdale woman was spoken to by detectives and released pending summons. 

Staff and students at the college are reported to be safe and well.
