Despite Ballarat’s water storages being only a little over half full, Central Highlands Water (CHW) says for this time of year that’s not too bad.
Ballarat’s supply is sitting at 56% capacity, Maryborough is on 55% with Daylesford a healthy 71% full.
Paul Donohue, the General Manager of Infrastructure, Planning and Operations at CHW says it’s been a dry spring and summer which hasn’t helped the situation.
“So given the time of year, that’s not unexpected, that’s a normal draw down of water supply.”
“But we’ll continue to monitor the water supply levels, particularly over the next five to six months,” Mr. Donohue said.
Permanent water saving rules were introduced in Ballarat in 2011 and include time restrictions on using watering systems and the banning of sprinklers, unless they operate using a watering system.
