Work is now underway to assemble and fit out 25 X’Trapolis 2.0 trains at Alstom’s Ballarat workshops.
Minister for Public Transport, Gabrielle Williams, was in the city yesterday to announce work will ramp up on the $986 million project over the coming months.
The new trains will eventually replace Melbourne’s Comeng trains on the Craigieburn, Upfield and Frankston lines.

The project includes a 60 per cent local content quota and will support around 150 direct jobs and up to 750 local jobs across the supply chain.
