Environmental activists will hold a rally in Ballarat this afternoon, calling for protection for all native forests and the end to native forest logging.
In May, it was announced the State Government would end the practice by the end of the year, but the Federal Government is yet to make the same commitment.
Extinction Rebellion will walk to Ballarat MP Catherine King’s office at 3pm, bearing tree branches to symbolise the forests.

In a statement, the group’s Miriam Robinson said we must protect what we have left and extend and improve our forest coverage while we still can.
