The Ballarat Heritage Festival has returned for 2024, showcasing the cities hidden treasures.
With exhibitions, shows, talks and tours on until May 26, some of the highlights on offer during the ten-day festival include the ‘Monuments’ outdoor installation, where moving images will be projected onto trees in Sturt Street.
An all-ages opera based upon an original Wadawurrung creation story, Parrwang Lifts the Sky, will also take to the Civic Hall stage on May 24th, and a shipping container turned into an indigenous art display will feature in Sturt Street.
Mayor of Ballarat, Des Hudson, says the festival will contribute over $2 million to the city’s economy.
“It’s the 18th year of the festival and it has really positioned itself as one of our great events, alongside the Begonia Festival and of course, the Winter Festival,” he said.
