Resources Victoria’s regulator has taken action against the Ballarat Gold Mine, after it breached limits on blasting.
In July last year, an underground blast exceeded the permitted levels of ground vibration between 10pm and 7am.
The regulator says mine owner Victory Minerals notified them of the breach and cooperated with its investigation.
The company was fined almost $12,000 for the breach.
In a statement, Executive Director of Regulatory Operations at Resources Victoria, Chris Webb, said the regulator will continue holding mine operators accountable and will step in to limit impacts on the community.
The Ballarat Gold Mine has been contacted for comment.
