Ballarat councillor supports more Bakery Hill precinct works

A Ballarat councillor says she’d like to see even more work in the Bakery Hill precinct, even after the current construction blitz wraps up.

$18.6 million is currently being spent in the mall, which includes opening a single lane of slow-moving traffic travelling west to east.

However, Sam McIntosh believes there’s an opportunity for the road to progress past Peel Street, even up to Victoria Street.

“What you do is don’t go out the other end, you don’t keep heading out on Victoria Street, you actually hoop back,” she said.

“They’ll be a lot of opportunity for us to monitor how this part of it goes, and then look at what the next stage might be.”
