In a flip-flop by Ballarat’s council, the frequency of our rubbish bin collection will now stay the same.
Councillors voted on Wednesday night to reverse an earlier decision to make it fortnightly.
We’ll now also get a food organics collection every two weeks from November.

Deputy Mayor, Cr. Ben Taylor, says the change comes at a hefty cost.
“In the end, that’s the decision of council and that’s what we have to go with,” he said.
“Probably a good thing we’ll have to do is actually look at [bin collection] in a couple of years’ time and see what the costs will be, because at the moment this is going to be a $600,000 increase to the ratepayers of Ballarat.”
