A p-plater from Golden Point has had the book thrown at him by the Ballarat Highway Patrol for excessive speeding.
He was allegedly nabbed doing 171Kph in a 110Kph zone on the Western Highway at Middle Creek at about 7.40pm yesterday.
He’s been hit with a $1225 fine and a summons as well as having his Toyota Corolla impounded for 30 days.
“This kind of unnecessary & ridiculous driving behaviour is unacceptable; the ripple effect fatal and serious injury collisions have on the wider community is massive,” said a Ballarat Highway Patrol spokesperson.
“With the lives lost on Victorian roads in 2025 higher than the 5-year average, every driver has a responsibility to ensure they are abiding by the road rules.”
