Ballarat council to work with police following vandalism attacks

The City of Ballarat’s CEO says council will be working with Victoria Police to try and prevent vandalism in the city.

In the past week, Ballarat Botanical Garden’s historic floral clock had its hands ripped off and burning bins set St. George’s Reserve’s clubrooms alight in Sebastopol.

It follows reports of vandalism and other anti-social behaviour in the Little Bridge Street bus stop precinct, including youths kicking glass and throwing items off shelves in nearby supermarkets.

Evan King says at the moment, it’s a bit of a spate.

“We’ll certainly be working with Victoria Police to try and find ways to prevent this from happening,” he said.

“It detracts from our beautiful city.”
