Ballarat trailer manufacturer Maxitrans has this week changed its name to Freighter Group.
It comes as the company invited clients from around Australia to Ballarat this week to view its expanded factory footprint with the high-tech upgrade worth $50m.
“The Freighter brand has been around since 1946 and we’ve been in Ballarat since the early 1970’s at this site,” said Executive Chairman Greg L’Estrange.

“So, it has a rich and proud history with Ballarat but also with the Freighter brand which is probably the most recognised trailer brand in Australia.”
Also announced on Tuesday was the release of a new refrigerated trailer offering under the Freighter brand, called Freez-R in collaboration with Schmitz Cargobull.
