Works on an off-ramp will see drivers face lengthy delays from tonight with the Department of Transport suggesting allowing an extra 45 minutes.
The Altona-bound exit from the M80 Ring Road to the West Gate Freeway will close tonight at 9pm and will remain so until 5am on Monday September 23rd.
“Works are scheduled to take place at this time due to the warmer weather, allowing for the asphalt to be properly laid down,” a spokesperson said.
“These works are a part of widening the West Gate Freeway from 8 to 12 through lanes.”
Motorists wishing to reach the West Gate Freeway should take the earlier exit at Boundary Road, then use Little Boundary and Geelong roads, and the entry ramps at either Grieve Parade or Millers Road.
Drivers that miss this exit should continue onto the Princes Freeway and u-turn via the ramps at Kororoit Creek road to return to the citybound lanes.
When construction is complete, an extra lane connecting the M80 Ring Road to the West Gate Freeway citybound will be available to drivers.
