Haymes Paint have this week launched the third iteration of the iconic ‘man on a ladder’ mural.
The original was commissioned by David Haymes in the early 1980’s and painted by Mason Stevenson who also featured in it.
However, in the early 2000’s it was painted over my mistake on the Scott Parade building, and another was commissioned after a passionate community outcry.
After Haymes left the site in 2022 vandals defaced it prompting the company to paint over it again.
Company Director Matt Haymes says this week they’ve launched a new one at their Creswick Road site by local artist Amanda Western, that also features his dad.
“It’s worth having a look, just to see how she’s been able to keep the man on the ladder, but then add David into it as a part of his legacy.”
“The likeness is just incredible and of course it had to get through Mum,” Mr. Haymes said.
