Despite difficult times in the construction industry, one of Ballarat’s major manufacturers says it is 100% committed to the city.
Haymes Paint employs more than 400 staff around the country and has recently invested $22m in upgrading its Ballarat manufacturing plant.
Director Matt Haymes says investing in the plant here has been an important move.
“It’s the biggest single investment that the family has ever made.”
“You know, you get to a point when you’ve got to spend the money because we don’t make solvent based products on site anymore, it’s all water based.”
“We’ve put in an enormous amount of solar power, we’ve got water recycling facilities there, to modernise is so important and to invest in technology,” Mr. Haymes said.
The investment has allowed the company to increase its output to 300 million litres of paint per year.
