The removal of Bridge Mall’s building height restrictions won’t create a height ‘free for all’, according to the CEO of Ballarat Council.
The city has prepared a controversial amendment to the planning scheme that will see mandatory height controls replaced with preferred height limits.
Evan King says lower parts of the precinct suit higher buildings.

“There’s the opportunity at the start of the Bridge Mall to go up a bit higher and it won’t affect sight lines, it won’t affect visibility to the beautiful streetscape that we have, but it is an opportunity to be able to grow,” he said.
