Hate speak has no place in Ballarat or anywhere – says BVAC boss

The Secretary of the Ballarat Veteran’s Assistance Centre (BVAC) has hit out following Sunday’s white supremacist march through the CBD.

Around 40 masked men, all in black, chose Eureka Day to hold the rally, with the march condemned nationally.

An emotional Andrew Hamilton from BVAC says spreading hate has no place in today’s society.

“BVAC as an organisation is here to bring people together, not to develop hate.”

“That organisation is there for hate, nothing else, it does not represent any of our veteran community,” Mr. Hamilton said.

It comes as the state government considers outlawing the promotion and glorification of Nazism.
