The Australian arts community are paying tribute to Ballarat-born mezzo-soprano Jacqueline Dark, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 55.
Jacqueline was a Helpmann Award and two-time Green Room Award winner, working with Opera Australia, the Victorian Opera and Opera Hong Kong.
She stopped performing through much of last year whilst undergoing treatment for cancer, returning to the stage in March with a cabaret show.
In a statement on Facebook, BLOC Music Theatre, of which Jacqueline was alumni, said they join with the entire Australian arts community in paying tribute to an icon of the industry, a legend of a performer and an incredible human being and mother.
The theatre says they extend their heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends.
