Grampians Health are calling on people aged under 30 to be more aware of the dangers of bowel cancer.
In Ballarat, younger people are often picked up when they reach stage 4 as GP’s don’t necessarily have it on their radar for that age group.
Local bowel care nurse Jaymee Goldsmith says there’s been a large spike in cases over recent years.

“There’s been a 266 per cent increase in people aged 15 to 24 that have been diagnosed over the last couple of decades and we’d really like to raise awareness that you’re never too young to have a bowel cancer diagnosis,” she said.
