Ballarat motorists who’ve nominated for a trial scheme have started to receive their digital licences from VicRoads.
The authority says they can only be used in Ballarat at this point in time to provide license credentials, verify your identity and prove you’re over 18.
They can also be used at local Australia Post offices to collect items, apply for mail redirection and open a PO Box.
“Victoria Police and businesses in the local area are getting ready to accept your digital licence and for now it won’t be accepted outside Ballarat,” VicRoads said via their website.
“We’ll let you know when you can use your digital licence throughout Victoria.”
It comes after a VicRoads data breach earlier this year saw all Ballarat license holders sent an email containing someone else’s surname.
