New street names chosen for Ballarat airport precinct

The new street names for Ballarat’s airport precinct have been chosen.

Wadawurrung words, airforce pilot and aircraft names made up the eleven new street names, including Winmaling Circuit, Petch Circuit, Kittyhawk Close, Gladys Way, Avro Anson Approach, Terminal Place, Karndorr Circuit, Cheetah Road, Boomerang Road, Fairbairn Street and Timmins Lane.

Concerns were raised over Gladys Way, named after Ballarat-born Gladys Joyce Matthews, as the street was not named after a surname and Cheetah Road, as it may be mistaken for the animal.

The street names were chosen after consultation with traditional owners and airport stakeholders.
