A Sri Lankan refugee, who today calls this city home, is planning to walk more than 1000 kilometres from Ballarat to the Prime Ministers Sydney electorate office.
Neil Para, his wife Sugaa and his three daughters, including Australian born Nive have been left in limbo for 11 years whilst they await a permanent visa.
Neil says he simply wants to stay and contribute to the Ballarat community.
“I’m not a person to sit back, I always want to do something.”
“I want to work hard for the community, for my family, for myself, that’s my thing,” Mr. Para said.
You can support Neil’s fight to stay in Australia by signing his 11,000 strong petition at Petition · I’m a refugee in Australia. I’m walking 1000km to ask the PM for a fair go · Change.org
His walk begins on August 1st.
