Figures have revealed Ballarat’s priority primary care centre has helped over 10,000 residents since its opening in November last year.
The centres, staffed by GPs and nurses, treat conditions that require urgent attention but not necessarily emergency care, including burns, fractures and mild infections.
Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle, says every trip to Ballarat’s centre mean fewer people end up in our emergency departments, while still receiving free urgent healthcare.
More than 25,000 Victorian residents have been cared for in at least one of the nine regional care centres around the state since they were launched in September last year.
