The Managing Director of Central Highlands Water has admitted that despite a real price reduction being touted, once inflation is added on, Ballarat water will cost more.
The Essential Services Commission late last week approved the water authorities 5-year pricing plan after it was initially rejected.
Jeff Haydon says the average bill will be going up about $67 for the year.
“It works out generally for the 2023/24 year to be about a 5.4% increase across our customer base.”
“Based on average water consumption across our region, customers generally use on average about 150 kilolitres of water per year, that average bill is going up by about $67,” Mr. Haydon said.
Today annualised inflation fell from 6.8% to 5.6%, the lowest level in 13 months.
