With a scorching top of 35 degrees forecast tomorrow, V/Line is being forced to once again run an extreme heat timetable.

That means all trains on the regional network including Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough will be slowed down to 90Kph or less from the usual 160Kph, as the tracks expand in the heat.

“During the summer months, parts of V/Line’s network can be subject to extremely hot temperatures, and we take extra precautions to make sure our train services run safely,” A V/Line spokesperson said.

“This means journey times may be extended by a few minutes, and some services will be replaced by air-conditioned coaches for all or part of the journey.”

Train timetables should be back to normal from Wednesday however with a shower or two forecast and a milder top of 20 degrees.
